New Construction Window Treatment Timeline

Education Center

What you'll learn

  • The four project stages and what happens at each.
  • Why motorization wiring must be planned pre-drywall.
  • When final measuring should happen (and why not sooner).
  • How to time installation for a clean move-in.

Window treatments are one of the last things installed in a new home, but planning them early is what makes the finish feel effortless. The most common regret we hear from builders and homeowners is waiting too long to plan motorization — by then the walls are closed and the clean, hardwired option is off the table. Here's the timeline we recommend.

The Four Stages

  1. 1

    Design & selection (early)

Choose treatments and, critically, decide where motorization goes. This is when hardwired power gets designed in.

  2. 2

    Pre-drywall / rough-in

Low-voltage wiring for hardwired motors is run before the walls close. Miss this window and you're limited to battery motors later.

  3. 3

    Final measure (near completion)

We measure once windows and trim are in and final, so treatments fit precisely — measuring too early risks costly errors.

  4. 4

    Installation (pre-move-in)

Treatments are installed just before move-in so the home is finished, private, and sun-controlled on day one.

Why Wiring Can't Wait

Coordinating With Your Build

We coordinate directly with builders, designers, and homeowners so our stages line up with the construction schedule. Early involvement means fewer surprises, cleaner integration, and treatments ready exactly when you need them — not weeks after you've moved in.
