Measuring & Installation: What to Expect
What you'll learn
- Why professional measuring is non-negotiable.
- What happens on measure day.
- Inside vs. outside mount and when each is used.
- What a clean install day looks like.
A beautiful window treatment lives or dies on two things you never see in a catalog: an exact measurement and a clean install. Custom treatments are built to your specific openings, so there's no margin for error — which is exactly why we measure and install ourselves rather than leaving it to chance. Here's what the process looks like.
Measure Day
A specialist visits your home to measure every opening precisely, check that windows are square (older Florida homes often aren't), and confirm mount type, stack direction, and clearances. This is also when we finalize samples in your actual light and note anything — trim, cranks, tile, outlets — that affects the fit.
Inside vs. Outside Mount
| Mount | Best when | Look |
|---|---|---|
| Inside mount | Window has enough depth and is reasonably square | Clean, built-in, shows off trim |
| Outside mount | Shallow, out-of-square, or you want max light block | Larger footprint, hides flaws, seals edges |
Install Day
- We protect your floors and furnishings, then mount and level each treatment for smooth, even operation.
- Motorized treatments are set up, paired to remotes or your smart-home system, and demonstrated.
- We clean up completely and walk you through operation and care before we leave.
